Keyholes and top-front-end
- Compare extreme dimensions first: widest, tallest, deepest, and smallest opening.
- Track edges and surfaces rather than relying on the overall silhouette.
- For orthographic views, account for hidden depth and avoid inventing diagonal surfaces.
Angle ranking and hole punching
- Compare angles in small groups and use the same visual reference each time.
- For hole punching, unfold one fold at a time in reverse order.
- Reflect holes across the fold line; do not rotate them unless the fold itself requires it.
Cube counting and pattern folding
- Build a layer-by-layer inventory before answering cube questions.
- Track exposed faces systematically and include hidden support cubes.
- For pattern folding, identify opposite faces and test distinctive edges before mentally assembling the entire object.
A daily PAT routine
Use 20 to 30 minutes most days. Alternate untimed accuracy sets with timed mixed sets. During review, redraw the object or fold sequence and explain why each wrong option fails.
