Core skill groups
- Algebra, equations, inequalities, and functions
- Ratios, rates, percentages, and word problems
- Probability, statistics, and data interpretation
- Quantitative comparison
- Applied mathematics and estimation
Use answer choices strategically
Estimate before calculating when choices are widely separated. Backsolve when options represent possible inputs. For quantitative comparison, test boundary values and special cases instead of assuming a pattern from one example.
Build a skip rule
- If you cannot identify a setup after a brief read, mark and move.
- Do not let one difficult item consume time needed for several accessible items.
- Return with the remaining time and a calmer view of the problem.
- Review whether the obstacle was knowledge, setup, arithmetic, or pacing.
